MU Group is Principal Consultant, leading the design for a 2.2-kilometre section of the upgrade, extending from the Figtree Development site to the Southern boundary of the Beulah Biobank in Gilead.

Appin Road serves as a vital arterial link between south-western Sydney and the Illawarra region. This infrastructure initiative is enhancing a five-kilometre stretch of this corridor, with a focus on improving safety, capacity, and connectivity.

This project converts the existing two-lane road into a four-lane divided carriageway, with future provisions for six lanes to accommodate longer term growth. The scope of work includes concept and detailed design across civil, structural, and traffic signals, utility design and approvals, environmental management, construction tender documentation, cost estimation and bills of quantities, management plans to support construction initiation.

A key feature of the project is the development of a fauna crossing designed to support the safe movement of koalas and other native wildlife through targeted optioneering and structural selection. Approved by Transport for NSW as part of a Works Authorised Deed (WAD), this upgrade reflects a commitment to sustainable infrastructure and ecological sensitivity and is one of two projects being managed by MU Group on Appin Road.
